Responsible little girl, let your heart unfurl…

Light at end of the tunnel

I fight, I kick, I hurt, I try.
Why don’t you see me, why?
I scream, I beg, I fear, I cry.
Why don’t you hear me, why?

Silly little girl, why don’t you see?
You are struggling unnecessarily.
When there’s no need to feel alone or sad,
You make yourself feel so bad.

Your heart locked away at a very young age,
Your soul hidden too in the darkest cage.
But you’re not a bad person whom people hate,
Just a lonely little girl who lost her faith.

Although this war has no one to blame,
it’s turned into a destructive game.
Stop playing hide and seek,
Stop thinking you’re a freak.

Silly little girl, why don’t you see?
You are struggling unnecessarily.
When there’s no need to feel alone or sad,
You make yourself feel so bad.

The only one hurting is you my dear,
All because of your great fear.
You lose by pushing love away,
A price that is too high to pay.

Open up and show you care,
Don’t question whether life is fair.
Whatever challenge comes your way,
Enjoy your life from day to day.

Open up and show your heart,
Don’t judge, envy or act smart.
Receive the love you so desire,
Return it to those that you admire.

Silly little girl, why don’t you see?
You are struggling unnecessarily.
When there’s no need to feel alone or sad,
You make yourself feel so bad.

Now don’t be angry or upset,
please try to live without regret.
Stop the fighting, stop the pain,
you’ll see how much there is to gain.

No more places to run and hide,
Challenge the darkness that’s inside.
Time to leave behind the fright,
Time to step into the light.

Responsible little girl, don’t lose your trust!
One day you will crumble your crust.
Responsible little girl, don’t lose your shine!
One day things will turn out fine…

  • Nice poem! Beyond chocolates and flowers, what is the REAL message of Valentine’s Day? I wrote an essay about it: http://wp.me/p2wzRb-66

  • Liked your article Frank! I also believe that – but then again, I am single… – Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be about exchanging expensive or original gifts. That’s just how the marketing gurus out there – and yes, that is coming from a Marketeer (!) – turned something spiritual into something commercial. I might be old-fashioned, but how about we just show how much we really appreciate the other person?
I understand why people exchange gifts, and I actually really like giving and receiving presents myself, but proving your love to someone should come from the heart, not from the wallet. As long as we don’t focus on the value of the gift, restaurant bill or whatever other surprise you got from your love, but instead on the intention…. we’re good. The very second you find yourself envying a friend who got a bigger ring, cuter teddy bear or fancier dinner, it’s time to get your priorities checked. And straightened out.
